"Approved"  Gas Training Courses

"NO ADDITIONAL TESTING is required for Licensing". Our Courses are "APPROVED" and are all you need to become licensed upon completion of the required course or courses.     

You must meet the requirements for "Field Experience" as outlined in the Gas Regulations published by the Office of the New Hampshire State Fire Marshall.

In order to become Licensed to perform Gas Piping, Equipment Installation, Appliance Venting, Removal of Appliances or Piping or perform Service on gas appliances or equipment you must  1st become registered and obtain a Technician In Training certificate as required under Regulations for the Licensing of Fuel Gas Fitters.


1st Course required for Gas Licensure   
Gas Theory & Piping  -  48 Hours

Learn about the Properties of Gases, Laws for Natural & LP Gases, Gas Pressures, Specific Gravity, Air Volumes, Building Pressures, Math Calculations for area and volume, Pressure Regulators, Combustion, Gas Flames and Carbon Monoxide. Piping and Materials selection, Pipe Sizing, Use of code tables, pipe supports, Underground piping, Piping design and layout, detailing plan sketches for installations, Learn about CSST and become CSST certified for Trac-Pipe, WARDFLEX and Gas Tite as part of the course requirements, learn appliance connections, Testing and Purging of Piping Systems.

This course and 1000 Hours of Field Experience working under direct supervison of a Licensed Gas Piping Installer, Equipment Installer or Service Technician will allow you to acquire your Piping Installers License.


Course Requirement for Installers License
Gas Equipment Installation  -  24 Hours

Learn how to Choose the Proper Equipment, the Proper Application of Gas Equipment, Confined and Unconfined Space, Clearances, Combustion and Ventilation Air requirements, Area, Louvres, Equipment location preferences.  Manufacturer's Installation Instructions and Product Recall issues.  Gas Equipment Venting, types of vent systems, effects of mechanical venting, venting materials, vent sizing, location of vents, Chimneys, Inspections.

This course and 1000 Hours of Field Experience working under direct supervision of a Licensed Gas Equipment Installer or Service Technician will allow you to acquire your Equipment Installers License. (Must have completed the Piping License requirements as listed above).

ourse Requirement for Service Technician License
Gas Service Technician Training  -  24 Hours

Basic Service for the Technician will cover Basic Electricity, Checking burner inputs, checking and adjusting gas pressures, regulators, gas flames, air adjustments and proper combustion.  Pilot Systems and Gas Valves will be covered,  Use of a Multi-meter, manometer, and magnehelic gauges for setup and troubleshooting.  Diagnostic tips and new equipment start-up and operation are covered.

This course and the required Field Experience working under direct supervision of a Licensed Service Technician (with proper fuel endorsement(s) ) will allow you to acquire your Service Technician License for the proper fuel endorsements you seek.  This course covers both Natural and LP Fuel Gases.


A
dvanced Gas Service Technician Training  -  24 Hours

(not required for licensure)

Course covers more in-depth training on the Servicing of Gas Equipment.  Review of more internal components of gas equipment and the diagnosis of these components.  Emphasis on using skematic drawings and applying troubleshooting skills.  More information on the various types of heating systems and equipment.

FPA 54  Review Course  -  8 Hours

Course covers the National Fuel Gas Code - NFPA 54 for content and application of the code as applied to the New Hampshire Gas Licensing requirements.  Combustion and Ventilation Air, Pipe Sizing, Vent Sizing and other important sections of the Code are covered in this course.   This course can be taken in two or three (3) sessions on separate dates.  Afternoon sessions are 2:30 to 5:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays and Saturday sessions are offered in an A Session and a B Session.

Gas Hearth Installers Training
National Fire Place Institute
 (NFI)

NFI  -  Hearth Installers Training  -  5 Days

This course covers Natural and LP fuel gases, gas properties and combustion,  proper equipment application and installation, clearances, venting, piping, pipe sizing, combustion air and ventilation requirements.  Servicing and troubleshooting of gas controls, pilots and ignition systems.  Local and State Codes and National Fuel Gas Code -NFPA 54 are covered.  Gas Safety, testing of piping and Customer skills are presented.
