Building Science - 2 days
An indepth look at the workings of a Home or Commercial building with regard to Building Pressures, Indoor Air Quality, Energy efficiency, heat loss and heat gain as well as the combined effects on air infiltration, moisture levels, mold, make up air and combustion air sources. We explore the effects of positive and negative pressures created within the building envelope as well as methods to control air pressures. Balancing of warm air systems and air distribution requirements.
Indoor Air Quality - 2 Days
A major factor in many of todays homes and buildings is the quality of air within the structure. With many suffering allergies, viruses, illnesses, pollutants in the building air are often major contributors. Improving indoor air quality becomes a "quality of life" issue. Being able to improve your customers air quality problems is a major part of proper HVAC and heating system selection and installation. Sources of contamintents, the required need for air change cycles, locating and identifying contaminent air sources. This course will help the technician identify problems and offer solutions (ie: filtration, electronic air cleaners, UV light, and heat recovery ventilation, etc. ) to improve the indoor air quality.
Building Inspection - 2 Days
How to conduct a building inspection to assist in the selection and installation of a new building HVAC system. Items to look for that will affect building air quality and solutions to correct problems with current system installation with regard to improving energy efficiency and building comfort. Learn to use cameras to perform duct and chimney inspections, measure pressure drop across a furnace and AC coil, temperature differential across a heat exchanger and identify air flow problems within the system.
